Budding Rose news

Sorry folks but ive been very lazy with the blog lately.!!We were tied up in port for 3 weeks, the quotas are so small nowadays that we can only fish for about half the year!!
We sailed on the 13TH of September and fished out in the Norwegian sector for a few days .fishing wasnt too good but we did get one haul where we caught 6 ton of coley .The weather got very poor so we shifted west into our own sector .After the weather improved so did the fishing. we landed on Tuesday this week and sailed again for a few days fishing closer to our home port.We came into Peterhead a few hours ago and our fish will be sold tomorrow .Weather permitting we will sail again on Monday.

BUD UPDATE

We got into Peterhead on Tuesday morning .We were advised
by the fish buyers to land our Hake as soon as possible so
we went over to Greenhill market and landed them.Sad to
say the price of them were really poor!!Down as low as 70 pence
a kilo for our medium hake ,not near the cost of catching them!!
We landed the rest of our catch on Tuesday afternoon and
sailed again for a few more days fishing.!

Its 20 years to the day since the Budding Rose was launched at Campbletown shipyard.

Thursday 22 April 2010

Our fish were sold today prices were pretty good for everything except cod.Why has cod decreased in price so much since our last landing ,well the processors are blaming anything from the icelandic volcano to the recession surprised the election is not being mentioned!! l think its down to probably the amount of imports of icelandic ,norwegian, faroe cod coming into the country!!!
